New To You ep112a: Scary pt1
Keith Vincent, John Holt, Mary Varn, are excited to be joined this week and the next by Giaco Furino. Giaco is particularly qualified to discuss our latest topic “Scary,” as he is a contributor to FEARnet.com, and an avid fan of the horror genre.
In honor of the content of our picks and our topic we recorded by “candlelight”
Segment 1: ’The Veldt’ or ‘The World the Children Made’ by Ray Bradbury (short story)
John’s pick for “Scary” is the Ray Bradbury’s sci-fi short story, first published in the Saturday Evening Post in 1950. The story was later collected in “The Illustrated Man.” An audiobook version by Leonard Nimoy was released.
Segment 2: Poltergeist III (film)
Keith’s “Scary” pick is the third in the Poltergeist film family. Marked by the tragic loss of the child actor, this horror movie has drawn rumors of a real-world curse, as some of these films will when coincidence has cast and/or crew from a project dealing with various unfortunate events.
